  • Audi Smokes BMW? 2010 Audi S4 vs. 2009 BMW 335i

    Given all the praise heaped on the BMW 3 Series over the years, we can't blame you for thinking there's more to the story. We've heard all the conspiracy theories, most of them involving checks in large denominations from Munich.

    This might seem believable to a certain segment of the population, but there's a far less interesting truth behind all those wins: The BMW was the best car. Sure, certain rivals often upped their game in one area or another, but the 3 Series always put it all together in a way that made it better.

    So now the 2010 Audi S4 is here to take another shot. It's all-new this year and the old V8 is gone. There's now a supercharged V6 in its place, along with a lower price designed to better align the S4 with the BMW 335i.

    The BMW 3 Series received a face-lift of its own last year. It was mostly minor trim changes and the like, but we're told that iDrive thing was tweaked again, too (oh, lovely).

    Sounds like a fair fight, no?

  • Office M&M Dispenser Maze - Short Version

    Peanut M&M Dispenser Maze

    Compared to the longer version, I have removed some repeated scenes and eliminated the future outlook section in favor of brevity. The video provides shorter overview of my M&M dispenser project, which was made to compete with other candy dispensers around our office (M&M, mint, and jellybeans). My goal was to make a dispenser that was somewhat more entertaining than reaching into a jar, but also reduces the large M&M flux caused by greedy handfuls.

    The dispenser maze requires the prospect candy-eater to tilt the maze table and guide the M&M through the sequence to the Win Bucket. There are a number of open wall segments on the maze, beyond which lie the fail ramps that roll the M&M down to the fail bucket. While the M&Ms are still accessible in the fail bucket, candy-eaters must face public scorn and shunning from colleagues if they eat from there.

    The maze is made up mostly of thin plywood glued together. The actual M&M dispenser is commercially available, with the only necessary modification being the servo-actuated arm.

    Control of the maze is provided by a hand-held controller, which uses 8-bit Nintendo POWER/RESET buttons for M&M dropping, and an analog Playstation joystick for table tilting. An ATTiny 861 microcontroller reads the analog position of the joystick and generates PWM commands to drive the pitch and roll tilt servos, which are connected to the table and provide roughly +/- 10 deg tilt angle.

    The maze is similar to the board game "Labyrinth".

    The longer version of the video ends with a brief discussion of ongoing efforts, which could include:

    There are over 300 almost perfectly spherical stone balls located on the Diquis Delta and Isla del Cano and are locally known as Las Bolas. They are commonly believed to have been built by the now extinct Diquis Culture and may have been sculptures used to line the pathways to the houses of chiefs, however, this is unconfirmed. These mysterious spheres range in size from just a few centimeters to 2 meters or 6.6 feet in diameter and can weigh up to 15 tons. While many marvel at their perfectly spherical shape now, they have been exposed to erosion for countless years and may have changed from their original shapes.\r

    Gobleki Tepe or Potbelly Hill in Turkish is an archaeological site in Southeastern Anatolia. It includes some of the worlds largest megaliths. Interestingly, they date back to the 10th millennium B.C.E. made by semi-nomadic hunters who were unaware of agriculture. Most people believe that humans settled into permanent settlements, then started agriculture, and then started to build temples but Gobekli Tepe challenges that chronology as farming didnt start in the area until around five centuries after this structure was built.\r

    The Yonaguni Monument is a submerged rock formation off the coast of the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. The monument has seemingly artificial edges with sharp edges and flat surfaces that seem man-made. The monument seems to be made of twin megaliths because of the right angles on the monument. Those who believe this was a monument made on land and then fell and was submerged into the ocean somewhere between 3,000 years and 10,000 years ago. While the true nature of the Yonaguni Monument is largely debated - some believe it is a naturally occurring rock formation while others strongly believe it is the remnants of a lost ancient civilization.\r

    The Egyptians left behind plenty of things for us to marvel at but one thing they left behind that you might not know about is the Unfinished Obelisk. It is taller than any known obelisk that has been raised however it seems quarrymen abandoned the structure when the sides of it frured. It weighed over 1150 tons and measures 120 feet in height. It was one of the most amazing discoveries in Egypt. As opposed to the Great Pyramids which only shows us the final product, the Unfinished Obelisk shows a glimpse into how Ancient Egyptians worked and made things. In this case, the Obelisk was being carved out of granite bedrock with balls of Dolerite which is a mineral that is harder than granite.\r

    Pumapunku is a part of a large temple complex near the Tiwanaku Site of Western Bolivia. It is believed to date have been made approximately 1500 years ago. Pumapunku is comprised of elaborate stone structures that once framed a magnificent and quote “unbelievably wonderful” complex. The stone structures are made with what seems to be complex tools and precision that baffles modern historians. High precision holes and divots are cut into the structure in a way that didnt seem possible at the time.\r

    The people of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean existed for approximately 1,100 years from 4,000 to 2900 B.C.E. before completely disappearing for no reason. This mysterious culture left behind more than 30 temples in their wake, some of the oldest freestanding stone structures in the world. They seem to have a civilization that focused a lot on life, uality, and death with several phallic symbols, figurines, and figurines of fertile ladies. These temples also had complex underground burial chambers and an abundance of artwork suggesting a thriving society and culture. What could have wiped out such a major civilization so suddenly with nothing left behind remains a mystery although some suggest it was a combination of extreme environmental fors, disease and possibly religious extremists.

From police to the general public, many people reported instances in which they saw a mysterious object flying through the sky. Whether or not this shows a real life witch is up for you to decide. Many people online are convinced that the footage shows a real witch, while others think it shows nothing but the product of video editing, but they fail to explain the numerous witnesses of the alleged witch. Number four. This footage was taken in Massachusetts in new. The man who took the video was, at the time, walking in the woods. Eventually, the man got lost and he came across some creepy structures made from sticks. The structures turned out to be a small hut made out of small branches. Suddenly, a supposed witch is spotted running through the woods. According to the man who took the footage, she was carrying a stick and was covered in dirt and leaves. Number three. This video was taken in an unknown location and it supposedly shows the workings of a real witch caught on tape. In the footage, a large fireball is visible in the sky. It is said in mythology that witches have the ability to move from one location to another in what appears to be a fireball. Do videos like these prove that witches really exist?     Consumers have been streaming through the doors at the Beijing Auto Show to see what's new on the car market.

    The SUV is one vehicle that has been attracting huge amounts of attention.

    Whether it's the look or what's under the hood, some consumers have bought the massive vehicle on the spot. Signed, sealed, delivered.

    Consumer: "I like SUVs because of the better view and more driving pleasure."

    Salesman: "So many people are interested and a total of 4 to 5 thousand cars have been reserved."

    Sales teams at the expo say the SUV'S advantages include large amounts of space, it's height off the ground and high-tech security. Some auto dealers have raised the price of some SUVs.

    Consumer: "I want to buy a Tiguan but I am afraid I have to pay 40,000 yuan more to get it."

    To meet demand from the fast growing market in China, auto makers including Audi, Benz, Volvo and BMW have brought their latest models to Beijing to put on show for consumers.

    Meanwhile, Chinese domestic car makers such as Geely and Chery are also showing off their products at the low-end market.

    Some high-tech gadgets on low-end SUVs are made by Chinese auto makers.

    Shen Siyuan, Director, Anchi Xinda Technology Corp., said, "We supply the keyless start system to the domestic automakers to improve their competitiveness."

    Statistics show: 269 thousand SUVs were sold in China in March. That's an increase of 160 percent compared to last year.

    1999 Burger King Pokemon Toy Collection & Review\r
    Back in 1999 Burger King ran an ambitious campaign of including one of 57 different Pokemon as toys in their kids meals in celebration of the first Pokemon , Mewtwo Strikes Back.. Today, were going to take a closer look at the various toys.\r
    \r
    The Pokemon toys were split into different categories depending on their gimmick. The charers available in the Poke Beanbag form are Oddish, Poliwhirl, Meowth, Gyarados, Snorlax, Golbat, Butterfree, and Togepi who was the only Pokemon to receive a toy that isnt from the first generation of Pokemon.\r

    Three variations of a plush Pikachu were made and it was classified in its own category of talking. Each Pikachu variation said its name in a slightly different way when its stomach was squeezed. Unfortunately, mine no longer talk but I believe one said Pikachu and the other Pika-Pika-Pika. You can tell the difference in the variations by the letters on the tags. \r

    The next category of toys was my favorite. The Light ups. The charers available were Mew, Mewtwo, Gengar, Raichu, and Charmander. These toys have a switch on them that when turned on, lights up the toy. Its too bad these toys were designed so you cannot replace the batteries so mine no longer light up.\r

    The fourth category is Key Chains and there were lots of charers made in this style including Geodude, Hitmonlee, Sandshrew, Nidorino, Cubone, Vileplume, Sandslash, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Dragonite, Kangaskhan, Electabuzz, and Muk.\r
    \r
    The round Pokemon were converted into Rev Top toys that spin like tops. The charers in this style are Graveler, Golem, Koffing, Venonat, Tangela, Jigglypuff, Chansey, Voltorb, Clefairy, , Diglett, Magnemite, and Ditto.\r
    \r
    Many of the water type Pokemon received squirter toys that can spray a stream of water including: Poliwrath, Seadra, Psyduck, Poliwag, Kabuto, Tentacruel, Squirtle, Blastoise,and Shellder. Most of these toys are a soft vinyl but Blastoise and Shellder are hard plastic with a button.\r
    \r
    The final category of the toys is Launchers. The charers in this style are Nidoran, Arcanine, Slowpoke, Lapras, Tauros, Rhyhorn, Venusaur, Bulbasaur, and Rapidash. The launchers came in two styles with some Pokemon firing from a Pokeball and others from what looks like the cloning machine.\r

    All of the toys were packaged in opaque plastic so you couldnt see which Pokemon figure you received. The majority of the toys came with a regular Pokeball, but the size of the Pokeball varied. The ball splits in half and and has a clip. Instead of a Pokeball, Mew came with a Pink Orb. Mewtwo came with a tank.\r

    All of the toys also came with a card featuring one of the original 151 Pokemon. Burger King also had sheets of cards that you could select instead of a toy. Each sheet comes with 9 cards and there were 20 different sheets. The cards from the sheets are a lower quality than those included in the toy packaging and if you separate the cards, youre left with the rough perforated edge.\r

Highly regarded as a sacrament, Hindu marriages are solemnized in accordance with the VEDAS, the holy scriptures of the Hindu religion that date back several thousand years. The notable features are that weddings should take place on the earth under a canopy known as mandap with a sacred fire center of it around which bride and bridegroom walk doing several rituals suggested by priest. The groom's party is supposed to arrive at the wedding spot in a procession, so it's good to have a convenient assembly location nearby.

    Astrologers decide on auspicious dates within this period on the basis of the position of the stars. The system of performing wedding ceremony in Nepal is attention-grabbing where the bride and bridegroom perform the Puja and take best wishes as well as blessing from relatives, friends and family members. The marriage venue is decorated by colorful paper flowers and twinkling lights. A Nepalese bride will dress in the bridal color of red, will be beautifully made up and will wear much jewelry. Traditionally, the bride and groom are being carried to the wedding ceremony. In a village this may be in a basket or by horse; at a city wedding transportation is more likely to be by a parade of cars. Music is an essential part of marriages. The tradition music in the form of Pachai Baja and folk songs and dance is still most popular among people as on this sacred day they believe that playing traditional music strengthens the nuptial knot, pleases God and not least of all it makes the environment pleasant and charming. With the advancement in society, it has become customary to choose between Panchai baja and modern brass band.

These smart kitties are said to be capable of understanding some human words and commands. Like the North American Bobcat, these adorable mounds of fuzz have black fur and skin on the bottom of their paws, tipped ears, stubby tails, black lips, white fur surrounding their black eye skin, white furry chins, and their spotted fur patterns have reddish tones sometimes mixed in. \r

    These kitties are old, having shown up some 1,000 years ago in their native land of Japan. These street cats played an important role in their nations history as hunters against Japans pest problem, mainly the silkworm population and of course rats with all of their malignant diseases. The defining chareristic for these adorable cats are their puffy tails which resembles rabbits, some even hop due to their long back legs, their primary color of coats is calico. Some of these felines have two eye colors, most commonly blue and amber. These cats are famed, appearing in many legends and folklore, the manga charer Hello Kitty is said to resemble a Japanese Bobtail, as well as the Muta from film, The Cat Returns, who is based on a Bobtail who repeatedly visit the Ghibli studio, theres even a Bobtail in Disneys Big Hero 6, Mochi. The legend goes that a man who owned one of these kitties was sitting under a tree when he noticed his cat beckoning to him with its paw, he rose and started toward the direction of his cat, when a branch fell right where he had been sitting, it would have crushed him dead if not for the warning of his inviting cat. From this story, the Japanese Bobtail has earned the nickname of Lucky Cat, Beckoning Cat and Inviting Cat and is now a popular token of good luck which can be found in nearly every gift shop in Japan and lining every shelf of most Chinatowns round the world. \r

    Food speculation mainly takes place at commodity derivatives exchanges, which are especially large in the US but also growing in the EU. Even though these exchange can have a value for agriculture, they can also be dangerous. Especially through increasing participation of finanical speculators like banks and funds, food prices more and more become a financial asset and an object of profit maximization. This can cause price distortions and increases - and thus hunger for millions. More information can be found in the article The speculator's bread. Also many scientists, analysts and public institutions have come to the conclusion that speculation can negatively influcence commodity prices (see list).

    What needs to be done

    To prevent financial speculators from generating profits at the cost of the poot, we need strong regulation of commodity derivatives markets. This includes:
    • Trade on transparent exchanges or clearing houses
    • High margin requirements for Over-the-counter trade
    • Reporting and public reports
    • Price oversight and price limits
    • Prevention of excessive speculation through position limits
    • Trading prohibition for institutional funds, mutual funds and for proprietary trading
    • Control of the speculation by multinational commodity companies
    • Transaction tax on commodity derivatives trading

    The political debate

    In the G20, French president Sarkozy has made food speculation a top priority. The G20 will decide on measure till the Cannes summit in November 2011. In the EU, the revision of the markets in financial instruments directive (MiFID) does play a major role. In Juli 2011, WEED and 13 other organisations have written a letter to internal market commissioner Barnier, calling for measures against food speculation within the MiFID revision. Another important reform process is the new EU derivatives legislation. WEED and other had an email action on this at the European website Make Finance Work.

  • Make Nitric Acid - The Complete Guide

    We show 3 ways to make nitric acid based on two different chemical approaches both of which can be done using easily accessible materials.\r

    Warning: The procedures in this video produce large quantities of toxic gases and deal with highly corrosive acids. All work must be performed in a fume hood with proper safety equipment. And all apparatus must be glass to withstand the acids.\r
    \r
    Chemically, nitric acid is made by bubbling nitrogen dioxide into water. So the objective in this approach is to generate nitrogen dioxide. This can be done by reing hydrochloric acid, a nitrate salt and copper. Around 80grams of sodium nitrate, over 30 grams of copper and 100mL of hydrochloric acid (37% 12M) are the quantities needed. The ex amount isnt critical. For usable concentrations, the amount of water being converted should be small, around 20-50mL.\r

    Any source of nitrate is usable including potassium nitrate, ammonium nitrate and even nitrate-based fertilizers. You can use our previous video on testing for nitrates if you want to determine if yours can be used. \r
    \r
    The tricky part now is leading the gas into water. Two approaches are shown in the video. In the first approach three containers, such as jars are place inside each other to force the gas to go into the water. This is very inefficient but is very simple to do.\r
    \r
    The better approach is to lead the gas out of the generator through a tube and into a chilled container of water.\r
    \r
    The water thats converted into nitric acid can be replaced with hydrogen peroxide for better yield.\r
    \r
    The chemical waste thats generated contains the valuable copper used before and recovering it is worthwhile due to todays high copper prices. This is simply done by putting in enough aluminum metal that it res with all the acids and copper in solution to create a slurry of copper. This can be filtered to obtain a residue of copper. Its highly contaminated but can still be used to make more nitric acid.\r
    \r
    For further information on the chemistry type copper and nitric acid into google. The hydrochloric acid and nitrate salt behave as nitric acid (with nitrate from the salt and protons from the hydrochloric acid) and dissolve the copper releasing nitrogen dioxide gas.\r

    You can use other concentrations of hydrochloric acid but you need to decrease the amount of water added to keep the concentrations the same.\r
    \r
    \r
    Finally, the last way of making pure nitric acid is to re concentrated sulfuric acid and a pure nitrate salt (NOT fertilizer) and heat it in a glass distillation apparatus to distill over the pure nitric acid. Stoichiometric quantities of both reagents are recommended for maximum yield. \r

    Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a fighting role-playing video game developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment based on the Dragon Ball franchise. It is the sequel to Dragon Ball Xenoverse that released on October 25, 2016. for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on October 28 for Microsoft Windows.     The game is very similar to its predecessor in terms of gameplay, it is mostly set in aof 3D battle arenas mostly modeled after notable locations in the Dragon Ball universe, with the central hub being an expanded version of Toki-Toki City, called Conton City. As reported by the creators of the Game, Conton City will be 7-times larger than Toki-Toki City. Players are able to freely traverse this new hub world, and in some areas are even capable of flying around, however this feature will not be available from start, instead being unlocked. Players will also be able to travel to other hubs such as the Namekian Village and Friezas ship. Some skills will have to be learned through masters, like the previous game. However, some masters will be found exclusively in these extra hubs. Xenoverse 2 will be the fourth Dragon Ball video game to feature charer customization. Players are able to choose from the five races of the first game: Humans, Saiyans, Majins, Namekians and Friezas race. The game also features race-specific quests, minigames and transformations (the latter of which was only available to Saiyans in the first game, via the Super Saiyan forms). Players also have a much greater role in the story, as some decisions will have to be made by them. Multiplayer servers are now able to hold up to 300 players at once. The game also has a training mode called Training School, and when customising a charer, there is the option to choose different kinds of ki blasts (Power, Burst, Freeze, Rush, Paralyze and Bomb).\r

    The game would have a new protagonist. Xenoverse 2 takes place two years after the events of the first game, with the protagonist joining the now expanded Time Patrol, as the course of history begins changing again. The protagonist has to fight their way to make history right again and also has to make decisions. The storyline will be affected by the decisions the protagonist makes as they progress through the story. In Conton City there are rules including: no fighting, no flying without a license of which the player will get further along, and try not to change history because all of the players missions have a risk of altering time itself.
